Premier League - Ferguson backs Suarez ban
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said the eight-match ban given to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez for racially abusing Patrice Evra is the "right decision".
Suarez was suspended for eight games and fined £40,000 after being found guilty of using insulting words towards the United left-back, with reference to Evra's skin colour.
Liverpool responded with a strongly-worded statement in which they criticised the FA and claimed Evra should also face charges after he admitted insulting Suarez during the altercation, while their players wore T-shirts in support of the Uruguayan before their draw with Wigan.
Ferguson initially insisted he had "nothing to say" about the T-shirts but has since implied the Reds should accept the sanction.
"Our support of Patrice was obvious right from the word go and that's still the same," he said. "The matter is over and I think we're satisfied that they [the FA's independent commission] found the right decision.
"This wasn't about Manchester United and Liverpool at all. It was nothing to do with that. This was an individual situation where one person was racially abused."

Well all I can say on this matter is that Fergie is a past master at embellishing incidents where his team or players are involved in. There has been so many over the years he has been the manager. Its such a shame that football has come to this its a great shame. Fergie should bow out of football while he still has a memory as dementia comes to mind as he can never remember any past incidents with his players, to name a few Fergie you get rid of any player who challenges you or your ways. SAF said the right thing. Suarez needs to be tamed. Look at the way he plays. He dives several times in any game. This guy denied Africa the semi Final stage in the last world cup. That sins will ever continue to hunt him.

All about money and who has that money and then truth be damned. Ferguson saw an opportunity to rock the rock in his favour and dragged Evra to the ref's office and the rest is history. This has NOTHING to do with racism and everything to do with inhouse football politics. A mixed race guy is now facing accusations as worse as being called a rapist, domestic abuser, or child molester, and that it was a silly tit for tat situation and that Evra was the initial aggressor means nothing to Ferguson. It's a chance to unsettle 'the' last team he wants to see making a comeback. And Man United fans might gloat and take the opportunity to take the St Micheal and wind-up LFC fans, but this will reflect into everyday life and give every copper, boss and politician the opportunity to bad mouth and get rid off anyone that challenges their authority. See how you like being condemned as a racist, sexist or rapist on hearsay, and then remember that you made it OK to behave like that.
