Ferguson hails "incredible" Giggs

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the "incredible" longevity of Ryan Giggs.

Giggs turned in a virtuoso display at Fulham on Wednesday when he extended his record as the only player to score in every Premier League season.

With so many injuries affecting the United squad at present, Giggs is likely to be heavily involved over the festive programme, including the Boxing Day encounter with Wigan at Old Trafford.

The level of the 38-year-old's performances continues to amaze even the man who has worked with the Welshman far longer than anyone else. "He was unbelievable on Wednesday," Ferguson said. "He controlled the midfield. I saw Danny Murphy bellowing to the forwards to come back because he was finding it hard. We know he is incredible. It is an established fact. It is an unusual sight we are seeing in the modern-day game, a lad at 38 performing at that level."

Giggs has confirmed talks will soon begin with Ferguson over his future plans and whether his playing career will extend to yet another season.

"It's almost that time when I'll sit down with the manager and see what his plans are and I'll see how I'm feeling," Giggs told www.manutd.com. "At the moment I feel really good and I'm enjoying things more than ever, so we'll just have to wait and see."

  1. To to David Peter and all the foul mouthed flotsam on this page: I wonder what the headlines would've been about you if you ever crawl out of your slimy dingy holes; if the rag tabloids ever beamed their searchlights on you. Then maybe we'll all read about how you have been shagging your toothless grandma, and the house cat, to wit. Let Giggs alone, he's human.
