Striker Mark Viduka remains a major doubt with the calf problem which kept him out of the 0-0 Premier League draw with Bolton, while Habib Beye, Abdoulaye Faye, Geremi and Obafemi Martins are away on African Nations Cup duty.

Joey Barton is still unavailable and Peter Ramage (knee) remains on the sidelines.
