Marlon King has completed his move from Watford to Wigan Athletic for a fee believed to be around £5 million.
The striker meanwhile denied reports that a proposed move to the Latics' relegation rivals Fulham collapsed this week because of a medical.
"I've been speaking to Fulham for a week and a half but [manager] Steve Bruce made it clear he wanted me down here at Wigan," he told Sky.
"As far as Wigan are concerned, I didn't fail a medical [with Fulham].
"Everybody knew about the knee injury I had as a player but I've played in every single game since I was injured.
"To be told it could happen again in three years I mean, anything can happen in three years.
"I'm fit and well."
King missed almost all of Watford's Premier League season with a knee injury before returning to hit 11 goals so far in their ongoing Championship campaign.
Wigan have recouped some of their money by selling midfielder Denny Landzaat to Dutch club Feyenoord for £1m.
Netherlands international Landzaat joined the Latics in 2006 and has featured in 19 matches this season, scoring three goals. He follows Fitz Hall, who joined QPR, out of the JJB Stadium.
Bruce has this month already secured the signatures of Erik Edman, Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios.
Watford meanwhile have taken action to plug the gap in their attack by securing the loan signing of Collins John from Fulham for the rest of the season.
