City chairman on cloud nine

The full extent of Cardiff's victory over Crystal Palace in their Carling Cup semi-final still has not sunk in for chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee.

The Bluebirds booked their place at next month's Wembley final with a penalty shootout win over 10-man Palace, with goalkeeper Tom Heaton saving two spot-kicks after the tie ended all-square at 1-1 on aggregate after extra time.

And for Chan, progression to the last two was just reward for the effort and endeavour shown by his side over the course of the season.

"I haven't quite come down to earth yet but one always has to remain focused about the next day or two because we're playing Southampton away, but [Tuesday night] was amazing," he told Sky Sports News.

"I believe that we really deserved to win and it's a great thing.

"Frankly I was terrified, on the other hand I felt that we've been tested many times but with this team we play to the end, we try and we give our everything. So, whilst the time was going I still believed that we could make it and we did."
