Mon 25 Feb, 03:15 PM

Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland will hand late fitness tests to two of his players ahead of Tuesday's visit of promotion-chasing Carlisle.George Abbey and the on-loan Gary Roberts picked up knocks in Saturday's draw with Leeds but will be given every chance to prove their fitness to face the Cumbrians.

Danny Woodards missed the weekend game with a groin injury and is expected to be absent again.

Holland told the club's official website: George received a whack on his shin at Leeds. Gary Roberts, the one on loan, had a tight calf and had to be replaced but both are expected to be okay for Tuesday night.

"We do not have any fresh injury worries other than those two minor doubts. Tuesday's match may have come a little early for Danny. He will be looking more towards the weekend."

Ben Rix (hip) and Billy Jones (knee) remain long-term absentees, while skipper Neil Cox is available for the final time before he undergoes an operation on a troublesome shoulder problem.
