Magpies hit by Pilkington blow

Mon 25 Feb, 08:30 PM

Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington is expected to be out for around two months with his fractured leg.The 33-year-old damaged the right fibula in training on Friday and the latest scans have enabled the club's medical staff to predict how long he will be sidelined.

"The X-ray was positive. It showed nothing had moved in the leg so it is a case of waiting for the bone to heal," Pilkington told the club's official website.

"I would think that six to eight weeks is how long I will be out for. I have another x-ray on Thursday, so until then I will be resting the leg."

Meanwhile, the Magpies have extended Matt Austin's loan spell at Gainsborough to a third and final month.

Midfielder Austin joined the Blue Square North side in January and has impressed Trinity boss Steve Charles. The 19-year-old has been a regular in the team that has climbed up to mid-table in recent weeks following Charles' appointment.
