Ian McParland insists that Russell Hoult will prove to be a good addition to Notts County's squad despite conceding three goals on his debut.The Magpies manager signed Hoult from Championship leaders Stoke on loan for the rest of the season on Friday.

The 35-year-old made his first appearance for the club in the 3-1 home defeat to Bradford.

McParland said: "I felt sorry for Russell. He had no chance with the goals, and everything else he did was fine.

"I really feel for the big lad and I am sure he will show himself to be a good acquisition."
