Accrington assistant manager Jimmy Bell has blasted MK Dons assistant boss Ray Mathias after comments made regarding the state of their pitch. The comments came as the Dons overcame a dominant Accrington side in a bruising encounter to win the game in the 83rd minute through a Mark Wright goal.
The game erupted into chaos in the 90th minute after Accrington's Leam Richardson knocked over Mathias while trying to take a throw, and Paul Ince and Stanley boss John Coleman both clashed before the latter was sent to the stands with his assistant.
Mathias has been quoted as saying on his club's official website: "Conditions weren't very good and it's hard to play football on a pitch where you can't stand up."
Bell hit back stating: "The pitch was playable and it is 1000 times better compared to some we have played on this year. I do not understand why they are complaining when they won the game."
Bell also commented on his sending off saying: "We will have to see what is in the assessor's report before we attempt any kind of appeal. We were trying to be peace-makers so I cannot explain why we were sent to the stands while Paul Ince and Ray Mathias were allowed to remain in their dugout."
