Calderwood keeps promotion hope

Tue 25 Mar, 03:00 PM

Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood refused to rule out his side's hopes of automatic promotion despite the goalless draw with Brighton.Forest are now 11 points adrift of the top two in League One and are set for a second successive attempt in the end-of-season lottery.

But Calderwood said: "We know what kind of run we have to put together and it's not beyond us.

"Mathematics are still there for us and if we can apply some pressure on the teams above us, you never know.

"We have Doncaster and Carlisle to play away in our next two games and clearly we are looking at having to win those games.

"It wasn't for the lack of trying that we didn't get the victory we needed against Brighton. There was nothing to be critical of because our attitude and endeavour were superb.

"We also came up against another goalkeeper who produced a string of saves and overall I thought Brighton contributed greatly to what was an excellent game."
