Rochdale manager Keith Hill had nothing but praise for Chris Dagnall after he came off the bench to fire a splendid hat-trick at Spotland.The striker, out since September with a knee ligament injury, scored in the 81st, 86th and 90th minutes to hand Rochdale three valuable points against Rotherham in their pursuit of a play-off place.

Dale boss Hill said: "It didn't come as a great surprise to me because I know what Chris Dagnall is capable of.

"He hasn't trained or played anywhere near enough after being out for a long time with injury, but we felt confident about throwing him on in the second half.

"He came to me a couple of hours before the game and asked what the script was. To be honest, he's written his own script."
