Howard relishing Anfield clash

Tue 25 Mar, 04:00 PM

Tim Howard insists Everton will continue to look up rather than down, despite Liverpool's two-point lead over them in the race for fourth spot.Fifth-placed Everton now have a seven-point cushion over closest pursuers Portsmouth, and could easily think in terms of settling for that to ensure UEFA Cup qualification.

But Howard insists the focus is now on overhauling Liverpool, with the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday.

Howard said: "You never need any added incentive in derbies but there will be this year because of how close we are. We are looking to get a result there, but that would be the case no matter what.

"We definitely intend to push on and keep aiming for fourth spot regardless of the cushion we have over the clubs below us."
