Ling resigned to missing play-offs

Tue 25 Mar, 03:15 PM

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling has admitted his side's League One play-off hopes are all but over following their 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham.Paul Connor's 47th-minute-strike at Whaddon Road condemned the Os to their second successive defeat and leaves Ling's side sitting down in 10th.

"We are a team that like to play with tempo and we didn't get that going," said Ling.

"The play-offs are still mathematically possible, but it's getting beyond our reach realistically. We got back into it with two wins, but we have started to suffer again with two quick defeats over Easter.

"There was a little bit of a huff and a puff at the end, but to be honest, they hit the post and the bar twice and the best team won the game.

"We are starting to look like a team that has run out of gas. I have only used 20 players this season and maybe that's starting to tell now."
