MK Dons assistant manager Ray Mathias described the incident that led to Accrington boss John Coleman being sent to the stands as "stupid".The Dons remained top with a 1-0 win over Stanley thanks to Mark Wright's goal.

But the game was marred when Leam Richardson went to take a throw and knocked over Mathias. Chaos ensued with Dons boss Paul Ince reacting and Coleman walking onto the pitch to protest against Richardson's booking.

Mathias said: "It was just something stupid. Their lad has taken a run-up and knocked me over, I was in the technical area.

"I didn't see the ref as I was getting up but it seems harsh that their manager and assistant have been sent off.

"It was a hard game and it's tough coming here, but it's a good win. Mark Wright has got 14 goals which is a great return from a winger.

"We just want to finish the job now but it still is a long journey. The lads are knuckling down and grinding out results like this."
