O'Donnell keen on Latics extension

Tue 25 Mar, 02:45 PM

Oldham manager John Sheridan could be tempted this week into extending the loan spell of Sheffield Wednesday teenager Richard O'Donnell. The 19-year-old goalkeeper has made three first-team appearances for John Sheridan's Latics since arriving at Boundary Park earlier this month as cover for Mark Crossley, currently sidelined with a groin injury.

O'Donnell told the Owls' official website: "It's been great to play first team football. The move came a bit out of the blue so there wasn't much time for too many nerves which was a good thing, I guess.

"I think I did well overall during the three games I played and the experience has been fantastic."

He added: "It's all about experience for me at this stage of my career. So if I get the chance to go back to Oldham and play some more football of course I will take it. The more games I can get under the belt the better."
