Manager Dave Penney watched Darlington concede a two-goal lead for the third game running and was relieved to snatch a point against Morecambe. The Shrimps surged ahead through goals from Garry Thompson and Jon Newby before the Quakers netted twice in the last six minutes.
Jason Kennedy first pulled a goal back after 84 minutes and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to leave the Quakers in fourth spot in the table.
"You've got to be delighted when you come back from 2-0 down to get something out of the game," said Penney.
"We have again shown what we are made of and we are a point closer to the team [Hereford] directly above us in the table."
Reflecting on the side's promotion push, Penney said: "We've just got to keep going until the games run out and find out where we are."
