Play-off hopes still alive - Boss

Tue 25 Mar, 01:45 PM

Dave Jones believes Cardiff have a "slim chance" of reaching the play-offs after beating Bristol City and Hull in their last two home games. The Bluebirds, 13th in the table, have picked up seven points from their last three games to keep their play-off hopes alive and they currently trail sixth-placed Plymouth by seven points with two games in hand over the Pilgrims.

Their next two games are both at home against sides at either end of the table, Southampton and West Brom, before the FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley.

But Jones insists their focus will remain solely on the league until those two games have been played.

"We are in with a shout and we must keep believing and keep going," Jones told the South Wales Echo. "In our last two home matches we have beaten Bristol City, who are second, and third-placed Hull.

"Everybody is focused on our next two league matches and we have not even thought about the FA Cup. We have a slim chance of making the top six and while that is there we will keep trying for maximum points in every game."
