Promotion key to Gera future - Agent

Tue 25 Mar, 11:30 AM

Zoltan Gera will stay at The Hawthorns next season if West Brom win promotion to the Premier League, according to his agent. The Baggies playmaker has been in the 'form of his life' this season, helping Albion into the FA Cup semi-finals and up to fifth place in the Championship table, where they are five points behind leaders Stoke with two games in hand.

Gera is out of contract this summer and a number of top-flight clubs including Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have been monitoring his situation.

But the 28-year-old's English agent says the Hungary midfielder would happy to commit his future to Tony Mowbray's outfit if they are plying their trade in England's top tier as his family are settled in the Midlands.

Sam Stapleton said: "If Albion go up, which Zolly is in the form of his life trying to help happen, then the chances are if there is no top-six Premier League side in for him he will stay.

"He has just had his little girl and he feels happy, settled and part of the club and if they go up I think he will stay there.

"If they don't go up then Zolly will have to consider things because he wants to play in the Premier League and there are clubs abroad who are interested and who play in European competitions," he added in the Express and Star.
