Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is urging the team's fans to carry on playing their part as they look to escape relegation.The Black Cats edged four points clear of the drop zone with their 1-0 victory at Aston Villa at the weekend and Quinn believes the supporters' backing will be crucial when they host West Ham on Saturday.

"We all got a boost at Villa and every point is vital now, we need the fans more than ever," Quinn told the club's official website.

"We've got a decent home record and the fans have played a huge part.

"It's great to see them turning out in such big numbers and it's sure to give the team a boost against West Ham."
