Rotherham manager Mark Robins believes the club's off-field problems are taking its toll on the players, who have had to take wage cuts. The Millers entered administration for the second time in 18 months last week, incurring a 10-point deduction that looks set to all-but end their play-off hopes following the 4-1 defeat at rivals Rochdale.
Rotherham have been forced to make redundancies and players and coaching staff have been asked to take wages deferrals in a bid to help save the club.
Robins insists it has undermined the spirit in the camp and had a knock-on effect on his side's performances.
"There are a lot of negative vibes at the club after what has happened, and that has had a real effect on the team," said Robins.
On the defeat at Spotland, where a nine-minute hat-trick by Dale striker Chris Dagnall ensured a fourth loss in five away games for Rotherham, Robins said: "I thought we were beaten by the better team, Rochdale just wanted it a bit. Dagnall provided three terrific finishes."
