Manager Mark Stimson rued a host of missed chances as Gillingham plunged further into the relegation mire with a 2-1 defeat at Port Vale.Mark Richards and Danny Whitaker gave Vale a two-goal lead before Leroy Griffiths got a late consolation for the free-falling Gills.
Stimson said: "We made enough chances to win at least two games and to come away with nothing is a hard one to take. We've not made that many chances before in an away game since I've been here.
"We all feel rubbish and down at the moment, but that will be all gone on Tuesday because we've got to prepare to play Carlisle."
Simeon Jackson also missed a penalty for the Gills as they wasted chance after chance but it was a defensive leader that Stimson felt was missing.
"We also need to get Danny Cullip back into the side," he added. "He missed this one with a sore hamstring, but he's very vocal on the pitch and gives us a real presence out there. We hope to have him back on Saturday."
