Tom Huddlestone has admitted he has serious concerns about his future at White Hart Lane, but insisted he wants to fight for his Tottenham shirt.
The 22-year-old is rated highly by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp but he has not started a Premier League game since Boxing Day.
"It is difficult to say what the future might hold," he said on Setanta Sports News.
"Maybe the manager will bring a few new players in and get rid of a few and it might coincide with me not playing at the minute.
"I want to fight for my place, but the last game I played for Tottenham was in the reserves and I did not go there to play in the reserves so it is just a case of seeing what happens between now and the end of the season.
"Nothing has been said to me and I am not playing, so I am in a difficult situation. I have just got to focus on staying fit and taking my chance if it comes.
"The lads are on fire at the minute so it's not likely the chance will be in the near future."
One player who is picking himself at the moment is playmaker Luka Modric, who has overcome a difficult start to his career in England.
"Everyone has a different view on football but I didn't have a fear that I wouldn't be good enough in England," said Modric.
"I believe in myself and my quality and I think I've proved that I can play here. I think I'm playing better and better.
"All my career, people have asked if I'd be strong enough and that started when I went to play (on loan) in the Bosnian League and then in the Croatian League and even for the Croatian national team.
"A lot of people wondered if I would be able to do it but it's never bothered me. It's just people talking. I've come through much harder things than to worry about that."
Modric struggled under former coach Juande Ramos but Redknapp has built his attack around the Croatia international.
"I feel I've got better since Harry came to the club," added said.
"I'm getting used to the speed of football and the fact that I won't get a lot of time on the ball. You need to think quickly here."
Meanwhile, injury-plagued Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Frei claims Spurs are among the teams interested in him.
"The problem is that I'm not considered a starter," he said in German newspaper Kicker.
"We have been approached by Napoli, PSG and Tottenham."
Barcelona youngster Bojan Krkic, who has been linked with Spurs, has insisted he will stay at Camp Nou.
"I have never even thought about going," he said.

in the old days we came up from the reserves today it is all about spend and spend for a quick fix, youth would be served at spurs along with the senior players what a team we could put out. i played with likes of dyson and carey and price ,macedo and others, back in the 60,s and early seventies youth and good seniors players is how man utd became so strong we need to do the same.....
Big fan of Hudds. He is probably one of the best upcoming-talented midfielders and under the right conditions he could become one of the best in the game, he needs two things to improve his game. Firstly, good coaching and secondly a good kick up the backside. Come on Harry work with Hudds dont give up him.
I agree with Stephen Michell - If the Hud worked harder he would be excellent - a centre mid pairing of Palacios and Hud would be tough and talented. I think we should keep him and see if Harry can make him a harder player. If not, sell him abroad - I think he'd be great in Italy.
I don't understand how Jenas get in the team ahead of Tom Hud, He's not half the player - very light weight. Also think if he goes to another Prem team it will come back to haunt us.
Spurs Supporter Since 1960
I think spurs spend to much time TRYING to make a new squad and dont really concentrate on the football , if they become more consistent it is europe and above for london clubs
As a Spurs supporter it is no surprise that Hud is not being picked. The guy has a lot of skill and his passing is excellent BUT at the end of the day he is lazy. He does not tackle or run. In the premier league you can not afford to have a central midfield player who does not work - maybe he would be better abroad where the pace is slower and you get the time to express yourself.
