Belgian Kevin van Impe of Quick step won the Dwars door Vlaanderen semi-classic race by outsprinting compatriot Nico Eeckhout after 200 km between Roulers and Waregem.

It was a fifth career victory for Van Impe, who pulled away from Eeckhout with 500 metres left after the pair left the pack with 25km to go.

Belgian star Tom Boonen was third while Quick Step team-mate Stijn Devolder came fifth.

A popular race in Belgium, the Dwars door Vlaanderen (through Flanders) is a warm-up event for April'sTour of Flanders.
