Serie A - Ibra ban reduced, still misses derby
Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has seen his three-match ban reduced on appeal, but he will still miss the derby against Internazionale in eight days.
The Sweden international was handed the suspension after he was shown a second yellow card for jabbing Bari defender Marco Rossi in the ribs, which was deemed violent conduct.
While the disciplinary commission accepted that the movement was not particularly violent, it ruled that he should still serve a two-match ban, the ANSA news agency reported.
Having already missed the Serie A leaders’ 1-0 defeat to Palermo, he will be suspended for the next match, the San Siro showdown with second-placed Inter on April 2.
He will return for the match against Fiorentina on April 10.
The Disciplinary Commission also reduced Parma’s Daniele Galloppa and Lazio defender Stefan Radu’s three-game suspensions by one game apiece.
Milan only have a two-point lead over Inter after Leonardo revived the Nerazzurri's fortunes after a disastrous start to the season under Rafael Benitez.
