Howard wants to cap best season

Fri 25 Apr, 05:30 PM

Barnsley skipper Brian Howard admits this season has been the best of his career despite their relegation battle.Howard leads the Tykes' scoring charts and is widely tipped to be named the club's player of the year after starring in their run to the FA Cup semi-finals.

But he admits his season will only be complete once Simon Davey's men secure their Championship status - and victory over Charlton on Saturday could be enough to guarantee just that.

"It's been a great season, personally the best I've had," he told the Sheffield Star.

"You're looking for progression every year, we've got more points than we had last year, we've been to the FA Cup semi-final.

"Hopefully in 10 days time when we're safe I can go and sit on a beach and say that all the hard work has paid off."
