Chris Coleman believes veteran Michael Hughes is providing a much-needed calming influence in midfield as the relegation battle hots up.The Northern Irishman, whose contract runs out in the summer, provided invaluable experience in the Coventry engine room in last weekend's 5-1 thrashing of Colchester and similar assurance is likely to be required when they take on Wolves on Saturday.
Coleman told the Coventry Evening Telegraph: "He always wants the ball and that's invaluable at this stage of the season. You need someone to calm things down.
"The players are fully aware of the situation and sometimes they just need a calming influence and he brings that to the table with his experience.
"There is a good blend in midfield with Michael, Stephen Hughes and Michael Doyle, and they complemented each other. He will enjoy playing against Wolves because it is a big, big game."
