Newly-appointed Derby assistant manager Chris Hutchings says winning a game is his one and only objective before the end of the campaign.Hutchings linked up with Paul Jewell for a third time on Friday, replacing Stan Ternent, who was named the new manager of Huddersfield on Thursday.
He arrives at a club desperately low on confidence with the relegated Rams, who face Arsenal on Monday evening, now a depressing 29 league games without a victory.
A penalty shoot-out win over Sheffield Wednesday remains the sole success Jewell has presided over since his arrival in November and Hutchings admits three points would give the club a much-needed lift.
Asked about his targets for the future, he replied: "Win a game. We need to get the monkey off our backs. That's it. We are playing Arsenal, Blackburn and Reading, that's our main objective.
"We have three games left to get a win. If we are going to finish the season well, we are going to finish it with a win. Hopefully that will kickstart us and set a precedent for next year.
"It's not just from my point of view, but from the players' point of view, Paul's point of view, the fans' point of view and the girls' in the offices point of view. The whole place needs a lift.
"The players have to play to their maximum, we had to do that at Wigan, we know that, it's up to people to step up to the plate."
The 50-year-old has previously worked under Jewell at Bradford and Wigan, succeeding the Liverpudlian on both occasions as manager.
He was given his chance at the JJB Stadium following Jewell's departure at the end of last season but was relieved of his duties by Latics owner Dave Whelan by November.
Hutchings revealed he felt "very hard done by" getting the sack, but is now keen to team up again with Jewell and write another positive chapter in the pair's history together.
"We have been successful in the past and I want to make sure that we are successful in the future," said Hutchings.
"This is a massive club in terms of tradition, it wants to play a certain type of football that we all know the public want, the training facilities and the ground are first class.
"I think 20,000-odd season tickets have already been sold so we have to make sure we get it right on the football pitch now."
The Rams manager has already secured three promotions - one at Bradford and two with Wigan - with Hutchings as his assistant and the pair will bid to make it four next season as they attempt to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
"What we have certainly works," added Hutchings.
"This season isn't over at the moment, confidence is a little bit low at the moment because we keep getting beat and the art is getting the best out of what you have and putting on a performance even if you get beat.
"If we can see an improvement from when I'm at this club that will be a step in the right direction."
He added: "No-one has a divine right to get out of the Championship, the likes of Charlton have already proved that.
"It's going to be hard, there's some big clubs in there and we will have to make sure from day one that we hit the ground running."
