Warnock thinking crystal clear

Fri 25 Apr, 10:20 AM

Neil Warnock says he is only interested in Crystal Palace's fortunes as they look to hold on to the final play-off place in the Championship.Palace are two points ahead of seventh-placed Wolves with two games left but face a difficult match on Saturday when they travel to Hull, who relinquished their automatic promotion spot last weekend following their 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

The Eagles then entertain Burnley in their final game as they look to edge out Wolves, Ipswich and the Blades, Warnock's former team.

Sheffield United endured a miserable season under Bryan Robson until Warnock's old assistant Kevin Blackwell took over and engineered a remarkable turnaround which has seen them rise to ninth.

However, the Blades are five points behind the south-east London club and their play-off chances are remote, meaning the Eagles' main threat comes from seventh-placed Wolves and Ipswich, a place and a point behind the Black Country club.

Warnock told the Sheffield Star: "We are not going to give up our play-off position lightly.

"If Hull beat us then it is because they are the better team on the day.

"The only thing I am concentrating on is my own players, nothing else."

Hull veteran Dean Windass, though, insists there is no pressure on City.

Windass, who played under Warnock at Bramall Lane, told the Hull Daily Mail: "Put yourself in the shoes of Crystal Palace or Ipswich - they've got to beat us to get into the play-offs, we've got to beat them to get automatic promotion.

"Where's the pressure on us there?

"That's not pressure. The key is to go out and enjoy it and enjoy your game. We have to express ourselves."
