The Australian Open champion will now face Roger Federer in Saturday's final four match.

American Querrey, ranked number 50 in the world, manged to keep pace with the Serb for much of the first set, saving two break points in the eighth game to hold, but eventually succumbed to his opponent to lose the first set 6-4.

Aftet that, Djokovic was irresistible, but Querrey did not help his cause by double-faulting twice in the opening game of the second set.

Djokovic took that break, and every subsequent game in commanding style in order to set up a semi-final date with the world number one.

After the match Djokovic said: "When you are the favourite (in a match), you are the one with the pressure. And if you want to stay in the tournament, you have to cope with it."
