Fed Cup 2009 - Zvonareva ruled out of Italy clash

Russia's Vera Zvonareva has been ruled out of this weekend's Fed Cup semi-final against Italy because of an ankle ligament injury.

A statement on the tournament website said 22nd-ranked Anna Chakvetadze had been drafted into the Russian team.

The holders were already without new world number one Dinara Safina for the two-day tie at Castellaneta Marina in southern Italy.

In the draw for Saturday's singles, Italy's Flavia Pennetta will play Chakvetadze and Francesca Schiavone will face Svetlana Kuznetsova.
