Walsall chairman Jeff Bonser has revealed new boss Jimmy Mullen will be given an increased transfer budget for next season.Mullen was appointed as Richard Money's permanent successor on Thursday after a stint as caretaker boss and Bonser is adamant Mullen is the man to take the club forward.

He told the club's official website: "We believe we have the right man for the job. We narrowed it down to a shortlist of four or five and his name kept coming out on top.

"He has the right credentials and experience for the job plus a burning desire to succeed.

"In the wake of Richard's departure, Jimmy has kept the club running smoothly and dealt with the issues that come up at the end of every season. He has been very forceful that he could do a good job for the club and why shouldn't he? He ticks most of the boxes and is well-respected.

"Each year we try to improve the transfer budget and there will be more for Jimmy to spend than last year. We are in the rather unusual position that the previous manager didn't leave because he was unsuccessful; we have the foundations in place and Jimmy is the man to continue building upon them."
