Cheltenham are hoping skipper John Finnigan will be back in full training by mid-August after a successful operation on his heel injury.Finnigan has been out of action since October because of the injury, with his only attempted comeback for the reserves lasting less than 15 minutes in January.
He underwent surgery on Saturday and club sports therapist Ian Weston believes the operation was a success.
He told the club's official webiste: "The surgeon found a lot of scar tissue that had been impairing the nerves.
"This had been causing a lot of discomfort and now that it has been removed, John should be able to push on with his recovery.
"The surgeon was very pleased with the results and now we will be targeting a return to full training in mid-August."
