Promoted trio in hunt for Sonko

Sun 25 May, 10:45 AM

Premier League new boys West Brom, Stoke and Hull City will reportedly lock horns this summer in a battle to sign Reading's Ibrahima Sonko. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Madejski Stadium and was recently suspended for two weeks and fined a fortnight's wages - along with Emerse Fae - after he refused to play in a reserve game.

Sonko insists he has cleared the air with boss Steve Coppell, but admits the manager's comments about his lack of commitment to the club "hurt and made me angry".

He only made 15 Premier League appearances for the Royals last season, but has notched up over 100 run-outs since signing from Brentford on a free transfer in 2004.

Sonko insists he is committed to Reading despite their relegation to the Championship - but promoted trio Albion, Stoke and the Tigers are believed to be lining up bids for the £3million-rated centre-back.

Baggies boss Tony Mowbray sees Sonko as a possible replacement for Martin Albrechtsen, who is expected to leave The Hawthorns on a free in the next fortnight.
