Former Australia scrum-half Chris Whitaker has been added to the Barbarians' line-up to face Robbie Deans' Wallabies in next month's meeting at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The 34-year-old will resume his partnership with Rocky Elsom after the pair played pivotal roles in Leinster's Heineken Cup triumph on Saturday following the withdrawal of French number nine Dmitri Yachvili.

Current Wallabies flanker Phil Waugh will also line up alongside his former Waratahs team-mate after he was granted permission to play in the Barbarians' clashes against England and Australia before resuming his international duties with Australia.

The clash will serve as an emotional homecoming for Whitaker, who played 118 matches for New South Wales before leaving for Ireland in 2006.

Whitaker earned 31 Test caps for the Wallabies after making his debut against South Africa in 1998.

The Barbarians face England at Twickenham on Saturday before making the trip to Sydney to take on Australia a week later.
