Lafferty hits back at Samaras

Kyle Lafferty told Celtic striker Georgios Samaras that Rangers had "played like champions" as the Northern Ireland forward savoured his team's championship triumph.

Lafferty struck the opening goal in Sunday's 3-0 victory against Dundee United as Rangers clinched the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title by four points. Samaras had claimed last week that Rangers would be unworthy champions as Celtic played the better football.

But Lafferty said: "I thought the way we went about our business at Tannadice was great and that we played like champions. Georgios Samaras said Celtic were the ones who played better football but at the end of the day, we're the ones who have ended up as champions."

Lafferty believes the title victory can be the first of many after Rangers stopped Celtic claiming four in a row.

"This is the kind of moment you play football for and it's great to be a part of it all," Lafferty added on www.rangersfc.co.uk.

"It's just great that we've come out on top. It's a really amazing feeling. My family were all watching the game back home and I know they'll be proud of me.

"This is a moment we'll all really enjoy and I've no doubt this can be the first of many championships we get. I definitely feel that's the case."

  2. i am a celtic fan and i think rangers were worthy­ champions, but i do think that kyle "OH NO SOMEONE­ BREATHED ON ME" lafferty shouldn't have been­ on the park on sunday. as for samaras he's just a­ donkey who doesn't deserve to wear the hoops. lets­ hope both managers see sense and get rid of both­ players. but if the ginger one stays he will probably­ keep the same squad and buy some more dodgy players to­ keep on his rubbish bench! if this happens i think­ rangers will cruse to the title next year. oh well....

    ANY DECENT FOOTBALL CLUB WOULD HAVE PUT LAFFERTY ON THE­ TANSFER LIST AND NEVER LET HIM KICK A BALL FOR THE CLUB­ AGAIN AFTER HIS BEHAVIOR AGAINST ABERDEEN.
