Fergie set to get Roque knockback

Wed 25 Jun, 07:45 AM

New Blackburn boss Paul Ince is ready to tell former boss turned "enemy" Sir Alex Ferguson that he has no chance of signing Roque Santa Cruz. The Paraguay international striker was a major hit after signing from Bayern Munich last summer as he plundered 23 goals in all competitions - a performance which has reportedly drawn interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

But Ince, the former midfield 'Guv'nor' at Old Trafford, insists he has no interest in allowing the striker to join Ferguson at the Premier League and European champions.

"If he comes on asking about Santa Cruz, then I'll just tell him he's not having him," he said.

"I had a text off Sir Alex to say 'congratulations, well done', as I've had off numerous people.

"But I'm under no illusions, I'm the enemy now."

  2. To me, it seems there is very little difference, except that Real Madrid are more open about it. If there is genuine interest from Man U then the press have got the information from somewhere... It is easy to leak the interest to the press they go off and interview the player and his agent, their response is published and then Man U can decide whether to bid. It is the way of the world unfortunately.

  3. Roy, Real's interest in Ronaldo and United's in Santa Cruz are on completely different levels. While Manchester's interest is only reported in some papers in the UK with no Fergie's (or anyone from United for that matter) input, there have been interviews with Real's manager Schuster, president Calderon and managing director Mijatovic all saying they'd love to see CR at Bernabeu. There have also been numerous reports in Madrid's Marca paper for a "finalised deal"; not to mention CR himself expressing his wish to go to Madrid - which was not unprovoked by aforementioned details...

  4. Why does Ferguson think it is OK for Man U to spread the gossip that they want Santa Cruz but cries like a baby when Real Madrid do the same about Ronaldo

  5. Fergie (ManU) will always buy good and fascinating players in d world, but he will not allow them 2 leave 4 any other club at their will. When Gabriel Heinze had wanted 2 join Liverpool, he was frustrated, he was sold 2 Read Madrid instead, after a long heated debate. Cristiano Ronaldo had indicated his interest 2 quit ManU & join Real Madrid, and he was not allowed, d heat is on now. Now Fergie is going 4 Roque Santa Cruz and it will b his turn 2morrow when he decides 2 leave ManU. Roque please join Arsenal (Gunners) where u can leave at ur will or stay put at Rovers.
