Swedish outfit Malmo claim Hibernian have made an approach for Finland striker Jonatan Johansson, who once played for Rangers.Johansson, who has six months remaining on his current contract, previously played in the SPL for the Light Blues before signing for Charlton in 2000 for £3.25million and then moving onto Malmo in 2006.
However, the 32-year-old could be in line to make a return to Scotland's top-flight after Malmo boss Roland Nilsson claimed Hibs have enquired about the player's availability.
Nilsson told Record Sport: "There has been contact and Hibs asked if there is a chance of signing Jonatan.
"We know he has a Scottish wife and sooner or later they will be moving back but at the moment he is our player."
It is reported that Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen may have to wait until the end of the Swedish season in November before landing his compatriot.
