Sinnott eager to make his mark

Wed 25 Jun, 06:15 PM

Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott believes his first pre-season with the club is an ideal opportunity to stamp his authority on the team.Sinnott has endured a disappointing opening spell at Vale Park having suffered relegation from League One just six months after taking the reins.

But he is determined to put the tough times behind him and open a new chapter - starting when his squad return to training on Wednesday.

"I am looking forward to it (pre-season) massively," Sinnott told the club's official website. "There has been much preparation going on assembling the playing side and, of course, at this time of year other factors come into consideration too.

"If you look at the complexity of the squad as it stands, it's completely different. If you look at the photo taken in pre-season last year there are 22 players on it, and 15 of them are no longer with us. You can tell the enormity of where we stand now.

"I'm looking forward to getting everybody to gel together and creating the kind of mood I would like in the dressing room, because that can be valuable throughout the season."
