Wed 25 Jun, 04:09 PM

Spain coach Luis Aragones has agreed a pre-contract with Fenerbahce to take over at the club following Euro 2008, the Turkish side have announced.

Reports in the Spanish press had linked the 69-year-old with the Super Lig side after he announced he would not be extending his contract with the Spanish FA following the European Championships.

On Wednesday Fenerbahce released an official statement revealing Aragones will join the club on a two-year deal following the end of Spain's run in Austria and Switzerland.

The statement read: "Fenerbahce have agreed a pre-contract with the coach of the Spain national team Luis Aragones and his colleagues to join our club for two years.

"The contract will be signed following Euro 2008 when Spain is competing in the semi-final this Thursday against Russia."

It has also been reported in Spain that Mallorca forward Dani Guiza, who is currently with Aragones in his squad for Euro 2008, will follow the coach to Turkey.

Aragones takes over from Brazilian coach Zico, who left the Istanbul outfit on June 10.
