Nasri Close To Arsenal Move

Wed 25 Jun, 12:09 PM

Samir Nasri is close to sealing a move to Arsenal, according to Marseille chairman Pape Diouf.

Nasri said on Monday that he had joined Arsenal in a deal worth around £15million, but those claims were swiftly rubbished by his agent and both clubs.

Nasri's agent Jean-Pierre Bernes said: "Nothing has been finalised. It is premature to announce this. Discussions are continuing between the two clubs and the player."

However, Diouf told Marseille's official website that a deal, while not yet complete, was imminent.

Diouf said: "We know Samir Nasri's position. Under the Webster ruling, he had the possibility of leaving the club for much less than the agreement we've reached today.

"After talks with him and his representatives, we've reached an agreement on the circumstances of his departure. Samir was approached in very concrete terms by Arsenal, who also contacted us.

"There are therefore steps that need to be taken to reach an agreement between the clubs.

"There is a strong chance he could play for (Arsenal) next season, but until the agreement is formalised we can't talk about any departure."

  3. We gunnerz fans keep talking about the strikers coming forgetting the backline. The weakness of Arsenal is Gallas(weeping baby),Toure after the NAtions cup and Senderos. Maybe we need good defenders too. Do we have any suggestions to Arsene about that too? With vela,Eduardo,V.Persie and Im sure as usual Arsenal might buy a striker from Finland And i wont still be suprised.

  7. we wernt far off man utd/chelsea this year, with a bit more luck we would of won the league and thats a fact, man utd aint gonna compete without ronaldo thats why thier so worried, chelsea are gonna lose a couple of big players and no doubt will spend huge to replace em and stil play boring football? is that the right word for thier game? as fer nasri, give it a year and every club in europe will be screaming for his signature from us.

  10. i really think people need to stop being so concerned with how many big named strikers Arsenal can have and start to focus more on a solid defender to compliment Kolo. Lets face it, last season Gallas and Senderos didn't really manage to fill the void that we have had since Sol left.

  12. Good transfer for arsenal. But I think they need more significant key players to compete in the long run with MU, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
