Championship - Crunch hits Scunthorpe sales

Eurosport - Thu, 25 Jun 11:35:00 2009

Promoted Scunthorpe have sold less season tickets than last time they were in the Championship two years ago and the club say it is down to the recession.

In the summer of 2007, 4,000 Iron fans shelled out for the year-long tickets but so far they have only sold around 2,700 for next season.

General manager Jamie Hammond, who predicted consistent full houses at Glanford Park for their forthcoming campaign, told BBC Radio Humberside: "We're doing quite well but we accept times are hard for people who need to watch the pennies."
