Premier League - City lead Tevez race

Eurosport - Thu, 25 Jun 10:07:00 2009

Carlos Tevez is considering offers from Manchester City, Chelsea and one other club, according to the player's adviser Kia Joorabchian.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Premier League Manchester United Carlos Tevez - 0

After Tevez decided not to renew his contract with Manchester United, Joorabchian commented the Argentinian's future will be defined in "about 10 days" and hinted City were in pole position to sign the player.

Joorabchian told Radio del Plata: "Right now we are evaluating the proposals from Manchester City, Chelsea and one other team. In the next two weeks, Carlos, Adrian (Rouco, Tevez's agent) and I will meet to sort this out."

He added: "City is a club with most of the chances because they are building a big squad, but it is not a decisive point.

"The contract with United officially runs to until June 31 and we'll respect that. After July 1, we'll see. We may be defined in 10 days."

Last weekend, Tevez turned down a lucrative five-year offer to stay at Old Trafford, with Joorabchian making clear it arrived too late.

He said: "Carlitos has never asked United for money, he has never complained about his contract. It is not a problem regarding money, but we never talked about that in two years.

"In two years, (United manager Sir Alex) Ferguson always said we were going to sit down to negotiate but we never did so. He sent an offer, but it was too late because they had not offered anything in two years."

  1. DON ... At last a UTD supporter who admits that 2"Tevez went to City for the Manchester sunshine"... does this mean he wanted to actually join a club in MANCHESTER then?

  2. jo stalin... great.... STALIN, biggest mass murderer next to hitler. Anyway... im sure thats not your real name. Tevez.... good luck...looking forward to seeing you in a sky blue shirt.

  4. COMMENT #24...what are you on about????.... building a squad but not proven yet??... so how the hell DOES club prove itself?... by bying players and taking chances and actually playing on the pitch thats how. Tevez will be LOST at Chelsea, they're just crammed full of "superstars" nobody ever gets more than 2 games... get used to it... the future's bright, the future's SKY BLUE.

  5. Utd offered £25.5 million. On last year's performance that would work out at £5.1 million per Prem League goal. Put's it into perspective despite Tevez's effort and committment. I wish he could have stayed but not at that price.

  6. According to Tevez'z agent he will never be able to leave united. As stated above his contract runs out on the 31st of June... How many 31st of June have you guys ever seen... If this is true he will have a contract there for life

  7. Join Chelsea Tevez!!! I dont think Man City's a good place. They are trying to build a good team but not proven yet. You may end up a flop there ending up your career being ruined. But in Chelsea, under the support of established world class players and carlo ancelotti you will have a high chance for money, fame and silverware.

  13. Most of the fans like Tevez because he is a likeble guy,no doubt about it!
He is also a hard working footballer as well. But let us face it-29 starts last season
only 5 goals...Berbatov is a lazy s.o.b. but knows how to create goal situations and is a proven unselfish teammate,I mean the guy had the most assists in the Premier League last season..I would rather see him staying lazy and produces over trying to improve his workrate and forget about his own style.

  14. "City is a club with most of the chances because they are building a big squad, but it is not a decisive point." Or is it because City is offering more money than anybody else Mr Joorabchian. Let's see if all the offers are far below what ManUnited is offering whether you'll still be singing the same tune. That also goes to Mr Tevez.

  16. Now I wonder where Tevez will end up.
Man City on £120000 a week???
    Chelsea on £130000 a week ????
Some other club on £150000 a week ???

I only hope wherever he goes, he scores more premier league goals than he ever did for Man Utd. Running around is one thing, doing your job as a striker is another and something he doesn't seem to get

  17. Teves should be careful about the decision he makes as far as his carrier is concern. Manchester United gave him the chance to be on top and going to another club may bring him down. Nevertheless i wish him good luck!

  18. We see enough predudice in these columns without the stupid comment 2 by sirstevejones. Although the BNP did get seats across the North we have to respect that they were voted in not through any surge to join this obnoxious party but because the Labour voters did'nt turn out. The BNP vote hardly altered but Labours collapsed thus letting them in. Shows just how important it is to use your vote to prevent this sort getting any credence. Also the press should stop reporting this as a major change of attitude by the electorate because the figures show it is'nt.

However lets get down to the real story. Good luck Carlos wherever you finish up. You will always be loved and respected by the crowd at Old Trafford, and you will be missed without doubt.

From JOHN I, on Thu 25 Jun 10:52AM
  19. Comment 9, you and your type always blame players. If you are in TEVEZ shoe what will you do? If Ronaldo is still in Manu, SAF will not offer TEVEZ new contract. He offered him new contract after selling Ronaldo, the guy was treated as unwanted. Some players are offered extension of contract 2 years before the end of original contract. Why the delay?. Forget loyalty, football now is business. Do you blame a banker for living Halifax to Barclays, why footballers are exception?

From dapfash, on Thu 25 Jun 10:52AM
  20. Mate who wants to vote BNP, really so you must hate football and sports, you must also hate all those doctors, all those cleaners and hate all those other people who are working in this country when you are probably sat at home claiming benefits.
So no I won vote BNP and the only thing to keep off the streets are idiots like you who are a disgrace to everything people fought and died for. But to keep this comment football related, Tevez to City
