Premier League - Johnson joins Birmingham

Eurosport - Thu, 25 Jun 16:53:00 2009

Newly-promoted Birmingham have completed the signing of Cardiff defender Roger Johnson.

FOOTBALL Cardiff City Roger Johnson - 0

The 26-year-old arrives at St Andrews on a three-year deal for a fee of £5 million.

Johnson joins fellow new signings Joe Hart, Giovanny Espinoza - who both put pen to paper earlier in the week - Christian Benitez and Scott Dann.

Cardiff have been resigned to losing Johnson this summer after he expressed a desire to join a Premier League club.

Johnson, 26, has made 129 appearances and scored 14 goals for Birmingham since signing from Wycombe for £275,000 three seasons ago.

The 6ft 3in Johnson is likely to partner 22-year-old Dann, who has joined Birmingham from Coventry.

  6. Its funny but so nice to read numbers like 5 mill which is serious and not crazy zillions. I firmly believe that the aim of Rael Madrid is to buy all the stars in the world and rotate them like Benny of Liverpool, sitting many on the bench - reason - so no other club can have them, and in so doing walk away with all the silverware. But I dont think it will pan out that way.

  15. Roger would have been the one to keep, letting him go to a yo yo team won't help him, plus how much will Wycombe get out of that deal? watching you Risdale!

  16. Great news !! This means Wycombe who transferred Roger to Cardiff can expect a decent payout from Cardiff.
