Middlesbrough have agreed an undisclosed fee with Colchester for winger Mark Yeates.
The Teessiders hope to conclude a deal for the 24-year-old Dubliner within the next 48 hours.

Ross Turnbull proved himself at the start of last season and after one bad game southgate replaces him with brad jones, i really do not understand this and are sure this highly contributed to borough`s relegation, southgate is fast becoming a joke letting schwarzer go last season who had already proved himself to be one of the top goalkeepers in the premier league and now by coming very close to losing another, anyway good luck to Ross Turnbull in wherever his future lies and i hope that southgate comes to his senses very quickly.
Yates is a highly rated yougster who could prove to b e a good buy and good business if we get good moey for downing and owen. I believe we will play with two wide men next season so we need Yates now we need a tall striker who can head a ball. Alves to go along with Tuncay who will leave as well.
I agree with you mortgageandmoneycentre,we sell three home grown players for about £15m-£17m, then buy one for £500,000 ..... yup that certainly smacks of ambition
nigal what a plank!! take it your an ipshit fan?? paul lamberts 1st full season to now sign his own players, yeatsie was a good player on his day but a lazy sod on others.
up the us's
Yeates was dire at Leicester... he's a fatty !.. too slow.. and too fat !!!!!
Boro have no money, expect more unknown players as the bigger players leave.
Sell one winger ( Owen ) , sell two wingers ( Downing ), possibly sell 3 wingers
( johnson ) and then buy a total unknown entity - good business?.
How about selling the players who didnt do it at all - Alves for one
Yeates was such a key player for Col U over the last few seasons that they look certain to struggle without him. Good bet for relegation as they have very few other players of any note.
