Fabregas frustrated by Gunners' "impotence"

Thu, 25 Jun 08:46:31 2009

Frustrated Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has spoken of his "anger" at the Gunners' empty trophy cabinet.

Fabregas remains a hot property in the European transfer market, with Real Madrid and several other big clubs known to covet the 22-year-old Spanish midfielder's skills.

He, meanwhile, admits the lack of silverware at the Emirates continues to eat away at him. "The absence of titles at Arsenal is what angers me most," Fabregas told The Sun.

"When you don't win everyone is in a bad mood. For four years now, we've needed a title to regain our belief in ourselves."

Cristiano Ronaldo's reasons for moving from Manchester United to Madrid have forced Fabregas to confront again his disappointments with Arsenal.

"Cristiano said he's leaving Manchester United because he had nothing else to win," he notes. "For me right now, it is the exact opposite - seeing the impotence."

  8. Cesc is a good player but not irreplaceable. No one player is bigger than the club. At the end of the day any player who wants to stay with Arsenal must give his all on the pitch. Ok there is big money with the transfer market and Cesc and others can get very rich very quickly. But if you get paid £60 to £100.000 per week minus 50% tax you are still getting a wage that is far better than most and instead of looking for that pot of gold from elsewhere there must be some Loyality rather than be like a prositute and go to the highest bidder.

  9. I know ED trashed Setanta's approach to its football game broadcasts saying that it is the reason why it lost the GB rights, but, these guys (Setanta) are really on to something. Visit their US webpage and look at the article that talks about the 20 Steps to a Football Transfer.

    Fabregas, take note.

Below is what has happened so far, predictably in Fabregas's case (according to the Setanta article) as I see it unfold.

    Step 1. Tabloid talk
Step 2. The first denial from the player
Step 3. More paper talk, this time quoting the interested party
Step 4. Denial from the selling club
Step 5. Another denial from the player, but he's 'flattered' by the interested party's interest
Step 6. Denial from the selling club, saying the player isn't for sale at any price
Step 7. Player criticises current manager/team-mates/fans/climate [lack of trophies in Fabregas's case] this is where we are now in Cesc's case.

    Next [predictably]

Step 8. Player is publicly rebuked by his club, possibly fined, exacerbating his keenness to move

    Step 9 - 20. Why should I even bother?

Fabregas, please spare us the rest - will you?

  11. The lad has a healthy attitude to winning and being a winner.
He will always end up a winner because he is a class player with a desire to win...with Arsenal

This season it will be Liverpool and Arsenal at the top, Utd need to re build and replace the old boys.
Chelsea are a team of players that are now getting old and show less desire each season.

Arsene knows this season is a critical season and if he fails to produce a trophy he will move to a club with money to buy some silverware.

  12. i would just say to those players complaining about the lack of trophies: YOU ARE THE PLAYERS FAILING TO WIN GAMES, RONALDO MIGHT BE A T.WAT BUT WHEN HE PLAYS IT IS TO WIN, THE GUY CRIES WHEN HE LOSES, ARSENAL PLAYERS GO TO THE CLUB, I KNOW I WAS CLUBBING WITH ADE A DAY AFTER THEY LOST TO MAN-U, go away fabregas, let ramsey do the business

  14. Well he is right. Only thing Fabregas won with Arsenal is FA Cup in 2004-2005 that is 4 years ago and this is last trophy Arsenal won. This is about the same as Portsmouth who won FA Cup in 2008!

From Loll P, on Thu 25 Jun 4:11PM
  15. What have you done Fabregas to help Arsenal win something?Giving up is the worst attribute a professional footballer can have.trophies will come.some teams take more than 10 years before they start winning again...have faith and don't give up.
