John Sheridan insists Chesterfield "will quickly move on" after Lewis Montrose's decision to make a U-turn on his switch to the club and instead sign for Wycombe.
The 20-year-old midfielder spent the final three months of last season on loan at Saltergate and signed a pre-contractual agreement with the Spireites when Lee Richardson was manager.
But Montrose on Wednesday opted to sign for League One newcomers Wycombe and will move to Adams Park when his deal with Wigan expires on 30 June.
New Chesterfield boss Sheridan told the club's official website: "Although I am disappointed with Lewis' decision, I only want players who wish to play 100% for Chesterfield.
"Clearly that is not the case here so I am not loosing any sleep over it and we quickly move on."
