Colchester are still in the hunt for a new striker after being told Shrewsbury's Grant Holt is not for sale.

The U's submitted a bid of around £350,000 for the forward who scored 28 times for the League Two club last season, but were rejected and told the player was unavailable.

United's Chief Executive Steve Bradshaw accepts Shrews' decision and will now look elsewhere for a new goalscorer.

He told the club's official website: "It doesn't alter the fact that we are in the market for strikers and that search will continue."
