Striker Michael Bridges has returned to Carlisle United on a season-long loan deal from Premier League newcomers Hull City. The 29-year-old played a pivotal part in the Cumbrians' League Two title-winning season of 2005/06 before moving to the Tigers in a £350,000 deal.
Carlisle will also have first option to sign Bridges when his contract at the KC Stadium expires next summer.
Managing director John Nixon told the club's official website: "Because of the set of circumstances surrounding Michael's contract with Hull, a 10-month loan was the most cost-effective way we could agree with them and Michael of tying up this deal.
"His arrival is a big step forward for us."
Nixon also revealed the club are trying to bring in another player before the start of the season.
