Brentford defender Ryan Dickson is set for his first Bees appearance of pre-season after recovering from a back injury.The left-back originally joined on loan from Plymouth in November but the deal was made permanent in January and he went on to make 30 starts for the Bees last season.

However, a back injury has kept him on the sidelines so far this pre-season but he is now ready for a return for this week's friendlies with Watford and Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Brentford boss Andy Scott told the Hounslow Chronicle: "Ryan has had a back operation, and we've been a little bit cautious with him as he had the same injury at Plymouth.

"We didn't want to throw him back in too soon, especially as the hard ground we have this time of year wouldn't help it.

"It' shows the sort of lad he is that he's wanted to be involved and wanted to play against Staines on Tuesday. But that was too soon, and he'll be in the squad for Watford or Hampton instead."
