Elding completes Crewe switch

Fri 25 Jul, 11:15 AM

Leeds United striker Anthony Elding has left Elland Road and joined League One rivals Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed fee.The 26-year-old, who joined Leeds for an undisclosed fee from Stockport in January, has signed a three-year contract at Gresty Road.

The two clubs agreed a fee for Elding last month, but the forward, whose family are Leeds fans, opted to stay at Elland Road and fight for his place.

But Elding, who made only nine appearances during his brief stay at Leeds, was one of seven players Gary McAllister left out of his squad for this week's mini-tour of Ireland and the former Boston man has decided to cut his losses.

Crewe had failed in their initial bid to sign Elding when they had a bid accepted by former club Stockport before Leeds stepped in at the turn of the year.
